1st december 2008...

Morning guys.. (or even afternoon if you prefer)

Right now I'm sitting in uni after just finishing my assignments (the current time is 430 in the morning ... ekkk).
Well now Ive finally finished all of my assignments, so i can get back to getting involved, later today i will have my SABB team meeting, this is where everyone on Adelaides' team meets up and catches up on the progress they've made on our individual projects. I'm still working on my two campaigns ready for launch after xmas. Make sure you look out for them!

Tomorrow sees myself and several other members of the SUBU team head up to Manchester to the Higher Education Volunteering Awards, which should be fun, we get a tour of the stadium, and then head to a swanky awards dinner.
Then on Wednesday afternoon I'm leading one of the M.A.D. days at Alexandria House, a nursing home, each year members of the the hub team head round and put up the Christmas decs, and help wrap some of the residents presents, its a really nice thing to do. and everyone gets into the Xmas spirit. If you ever want to get involved with SUBU's Volunteering head to the the-hub.org.uk.

anyways guys ill keep you updated on how the awards go..

Howdy...

so what have i been up to then?? well apart from the stacks of assignments and practical week looming, I've been working on my up and coming campaigns, attending the clubs & societies meeting and representing you lot at the Winton Community Forum Meeting.. which was an experience to say the least. Any Way more about that later...

Each week the SABB teams meet up, each of these small teams within exec are headed up by a Sabbatical officer, mine being Ads..the VP Comms. One of the issues high on all of execs agenda is Lansdowne campus and as we have the Lansdowne officer on our team, were trying to smarten up the SUBU lansdowne area, so on Monday our team had our meeting down there to asses and decide what we want to do down there. So after about 45 mins of myself, Emily, Ads and Tufan playing at being interior designers and moving the furniture around a bit, we've come up with a great plan. following this Ads has a meeting with estates on Monday to get the plan in motion.

So on Wednesday i attended the clubs and societies meeting, this is where the new clubs are approved, budget requests for existing clubs are reviewed and anything club n soc's is decided.
This week saw the Role playing soc..(think dungeons and dragons but different) and the bar tending society.. which sounds good.. might join as i wouldn't mind learning to flare bartend.

I spent the rest of Wednesday working on my campaigns.. the first one coming to fruition is the your SUBU- not profit. I started to get quite excited as G the SUBU design guys about to start sorting the artwork for it. woot .

Wednesday evening saw myself, Ads, Dan C, Dan M , Terri and the SUBU commercial manager Alan Dove head to the Winton Community Forum, the meeting was called by a local councillor to discuss the impacts of students on winton.

Although the majority of the comments were negative towards us the students, some of the locals left fairly content knowing that the students union were doing something. Quite some time later the meeting finished and we could head home...

Thursday sees our weekly exec meeting taking place in P403 at 6pm...
which your all welcome to come see at anytime... this weeks meeting was fairly quick, one of the first things on the agenda was a presentation from leisure tourism students asking for funding for one of their assessed events. Other topics discussed included lansdowne and the winton community forum.

As per usual, feel free to post comments here or send your thoughts, fears, tastes, emotions, smells, hopes or anything else to susteven@bournemouth.ac.uk

17/11/08

Hi guys, as I'm sure you've guessed by now this is the SUBU exec blog for Me! if you don't know already I'm one of the non-portfolio officers allowing me to get involved in anything to do with SUBU

Right then whats the purpose of this blog then?? Well this blog allows you (the student body) to keep up with what your SUBU exec has been up to.After all you lot voted us in and what you think of us, matters alot to myself, exec and SUBU

So then what have i been up to since i was voted in back last year?? Well following the summer ball, myself and 9 others jetted off to Nigeria, Ijede to be more precise to volunteering for 10 days. The project organised by Lexy (the volunteering lady up in the su) was a great challenge. Working with a charity set up by two third years for their placement year, It kidz of africa aims to improve the computer literacy levels in Africa. Although i ended up getting malaria whilst out in africa, it was definitely a good experience overall.

In September i attended a week long residential training course for the exec, to allow us to knit as a team, and to sculpt the exec vision.

Upon returning to uni in October i was well involved in the freshers fortnight manning the front door arrivals desk, helping uni students old and new find their way round.

More recently i have started to organise two separate campaigns, one will be launched in the first week of next term, and the second in February, will see the return of the Sexual Health Advice and Guidance week, following the success of the campaign last year, SUBU hopes to make this years Campaign bigger and better.

Anyways enough of me gassing,
feel free to post comments here or email me at susteven@bournemouth.ac.uk
